What should I do if the ARNOLD spindle gets jammed by tightening too hard with the handle?

In this situation, the spindle sleeve gets blocked with the cylinder (900030...) and the high pressure isarnold not released when the handle is turned anti-clockwise. The clutch system does not work.

This can be due to 2 reasons:

  • The handle has been turned too much to obtain high pressure.
  • The jaws have been opened totally and the work-piece surpasses the clamping area inhibiting the jaw movement.

Solutions:

  1. To free the spindle, the deposit must be fixed with a wrench. A light anti-colckwise knock must then be made on the handle to release it from the cylinder. The handle is then turned to free the clutch (high pressure) system. A clicking sound will confirm this.
  2. The spindle does not release the clutch. The handle must be turned clockwise firmly. The jaw assembly will move forward. Once the jaw assembly is free and positioned half-way along the vice body, the deposit must be fixed as in the case above, applying light knock on the handle anti-clockwise and proceeding to turn the handle in order to free the clutch system (click).
