What happens if the intake of the block-sc is interrupted?
There are two main reasons why the feed/intake can be interrupted in BLOCK-SCs, due to an unexpected supply disruption or a deliberated disconnection.
We recommend to keep the feed/intake permanently connected because in case of an small leak it will be always be easier to locate it and the damage will be less if the intake is connected.
In the event one of these two situations occur:
1. When an unexpected supply disruption:
A pressure holding valve should be installed in the system. This element will keep the pressure and jaws will stay in the same position previous to pressure loss.
2. When we have deliberately planned to disconnect the supply:
A. Air: In order to keep the sealing, a pressure holding valve should be installed in between the BLOCKs and the quick push-in connectors where the air supply will be disconnected. This way we will make sure that the system does not lose pressure through the push-in connectors. It will be necessary to keep a pressure gauge clearly visible in order to detect any type of leak. It is also recommended a thorough preventive maintenance of the system.
B. Oil: It is recommended to install a suitable accumulator in the system for the pressure and amount of work/load in between the BLOCK-SC and the valve used for disrupting the supply. Same as with the air supply, it will also be necessary to keep a pressure gauge clearly visible in order to monitor the pressure at all times. It is also recommended a thorough preventive maintenance of the system.
