How do I chose a vice?
When choosing a vice some of the most important points to be considered are the operations involved in the machining and the features of the machine itself.
In order to clamp a single workpiece within a machine with limited space on the inside the most suitable vices are Arnold MAT and Arnold MB2. If the space is not limited, Arnold CLASSIC would also be suitable. When two workpieces should be clamped at the same time, then the most suitable vice is the Arnold TWIN vice.
Arnold SC vices are self-centering vices that help with the centering of the workpiece. These types of vices and the Arnold 5X vices are specially designed for five axis machines, which allow more access points at the time of machining.
For your convenience Fresmak has both, manual and automatic versions for most of the vices. When an automatic vice is chosen, yo must consider that it has to be driven either by using compressed air (Pneumatic vices) or hydraulicly (Automat and Oleodynamic vices. In this last case (Oleodynamic), a central hydraulic unit of up to 500 bar is needed and for the Automat vice, as it runs with only 70 bar, the vice can be feeded by the hydraulic unit of the machine.
